MLM Success - How Bad Do You Want It?

Every time I turn around somebody is making an excuse why they can't become successful in their MLM business. I don't have enough money, or time, or education or nobody believes in me or, well you get the point.

Excuses are everywhere.

A little more than a decade ago, before MLM changed my life, I was driving an ugly green Ford Probe with more than 100,000 miles and bald tires. I actually thought it was a cool car when I bought it, but that's another story.

I had been in Chicago doing a meeting with the owners of our MLM company (I was the MC) and I got this crazy idea to expand my business in Chicago. Sound familiar? You get caught up in all the excitement that you just want to dive in. You start making plans that you'll never actually do anything about.

In all the excitement of this meeting it sounded like a good idea, but you see I live in Dallas and I didn't have the money to fly to Chicago. The reality of my sad financial situation hit me like a ton of bricks.

Well so much for that idea. I don't have the money, perhaps the biggest excuse that MLM failures will ever use. When you don't have the money, you don't have the money right? Wrong!

Instead of thinking you can't afford it, start asking yourself how you we afford it. Then it hit me I'll just drive to Chicago in an ugly car with more than 100,000 miles and bald tires! But I don't have the money to stay even one night in a hotel! SO I guess I can't go right? Wrong.

I'll just drive by myself for 22 hours straight. Sounds crazy doesn't it? If i need to sleep I can just stop in a rest area. How bad do you want MLM success and what are you willing to do to get it? Then another obstacle popped up. Where am I going to stay when I get to Chicago?

I met a really nice lady in Chicago and she said that Chicago needed somebody like me (I was in the "fake it till you make it" mode at that time, I was really really broke, but at least I thought I knew what I was doing) and she offered to let me stay with her.

When I called this really nice woman to take her up on her offer she said "can't you find somebody else to stay with?" Not exactly what you would call a warm welcome now was it? Well I guess I can't afford to go to Chicago right? Wrong.

I didn't let that stop me, and so I was on my way to stay with a total stranger, a 60 year old woman on the south side of Chicago, that I had just met and had talked with for only 5 minutes!

Some people might call me bold, some might call me crazy and some might say that I'm stupid! Wait till you hear the whole story before you pass judgment. On that trip I recruited one guy and only one guy. Sounds like a waste of time and money that one guy has become massively successful, earning more than $100,000 a year for himself and in the process has made me somewhere around $750,000! Now who's laughing?

I'm sure that I'm not the only person in the history of MLM to drive nonstop for more than 21 hours in a broken down ugly car with 100,000 miles and bald tires and stay with a woman they had just met to work in a city where they didn't have a single appointment on the hopes that it would payoff!

Yeah I know that was one long sentence but hey when you want something bad enough you're willing to break a few rules to get it, right?

Most people won't drive 30 or 40 minutes to grow their MLM business because although they may say they want to become successful, how bad do they really want it? Are you one of those people? How far is to far to drive if it will change your life forever?

So how bad do you want it? If you truly desire life changing MLM success, then you will do whatever it takes. We've already made $750,000 because I wanted success so bad that I could taste it. The rest of the story? That one trip will probably pay us MILLIONS over the lifetime of our relationship with just one person.

That trip to Chicago more than a decade ago has altered the course of my life and the lives of the people that I am closest to. What if? What if the thought of driving 986 miles nonstop was too much and I never went to Chicago. How many lives would have been affected?

By the way this doesn't mean that you have to drive an ugly car with bald tires and more than 100,000 miles across the country to become successful in MLM, but it helps. Broke people typically stay broke because they have a broke persons mindset. What's your mindset right now?

When you want what you have never had you must be willing to do what you have never done! So be honest with yourself, how bad do you really want MLM success?

How Badly Do You Want It?

What do you think about people who say they want to be fit, or to spend more time with family, or to really buckle down in business this year--and they just can't seem to pull it off? Maybe you know someone who struggles with this sort of thing. Maybe you are that someone.

People with this incongruity, saying they want something but not doing what's really necessary to get it, are not liars--not most of them, anyway. Most of them really do want what they say, but on a day-to-day basis, they just don't seem to be able to make it happen.

It boils down to this: They don't want it enough--not enough to go to the gym regularly, or to organize the day so the urgencies of the office don't overshadow the importance of being with family, or to make the follow-up calls they know they should. They don't want it enough to do the work.

Let's say you have this nagging feeling that although, yes, you do want to produce a new result in business this year, it's probably going to turn out a lot like the last one. You suspect you aren't motivated to do what's necessary to make the difference. How can you rev that up? How can you make a change and make it stick?

You can start with a few simple exercises. Take out a piece of paper and draw a line down the center. At the top of the right column, write, "How badly do I want it?" At the top of the left column, write, "What is it?"

Start with the left column. Ask yourself, "What do I really want? What is the result I want to produce?" Get it down into a sentence or two. Make your desired result just as specific as this example. Then, in the same column, write down what other results that one will produce in your life. This one result will be the start of an immense domino effect--this is crucial to so many other things I want in my life."

Now, in the right column, rate your current level of motivation to achieve this on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 means you can hardly keep your eyes open through this exercise and 10 means you're ready to go out and do something toward its achievement right now.

Consider what level of drive is required to meet this goal. Rate that on a scale of 1 to 10, and then describe how you're going to have to feel in order to get what you say you want.

Remember that for you to do truly follow through, there has to be something about this goal that moves you to action more than the potential discomfort of doing the work. In other words, you need to overcome any aversion to getting the job done with some seriously inspirational sticks and carrots.

Now take a good look at what you've done. You've honestly stated your goal and what it will take to achieve it. Do you want it enough? Are you going to do what's necessary--even when you don't feel like it? That's motivation. Not some mysterious excitement that never leaves, but perseverance because you know what you want, and you are willing to be uncomfortable, do things you'd rather not, and work when you don't want to in order to get it.

Remember all the other results come from having the discipline to follow through. Just because you are willing to, doesn't mean you will. Do you want it badly enough to do what is required to reach your goals?

Home Business Tips - How Bad Do You Want Success?

How bad do you want success? Sounds like an odd question? Well, it's not as odd as you might think. See, I've asked people this question before. Many say that they want it real bad. Then I ask them what they're willing to do to get it and they tell me anything. Then I tell them what they need to do and they look at me like I had two heads. See, people SAY they want success, but very few really do what they have to in order to get it. Are you one of them? Are you ready to do whatever you have to in order to succeed? Not sure? Then you might want to read the rest of this article.

I was one of the lucky few. Why do I say this? I lost my job and had no choice but to make my home business work on be out on the street. Maybe that kind of life and death pressure can make a guy do some amazing things. All I know is that I didn't know the meaning of the phrase "I'm not going to do that." If I had to put in 14 hour days, I put in 14 hour days. If I had to stay up late, I stayed up late. If I had to give up going out with my friends, I did that too. I did whatever I had to do.

Was it fun? It was hell. I had days where I wanted to pull my hair out of my head. I didn't exactly get off to the greatest start six years ago. I had NO idea what I was doing and it showed. My first five months online I made all of $28. If you think that's not failure, trust me, it is. And the bills were piling up and I was running out of time. Desperation didn't even begin to tell the story. But I kept at it. I kept working and learning and eventually, I made it to the point where I was making more than I had made at any job I had held.

It did NOT come easy. Kind of reminded me of an old Ringo Starr tune from 1971. Point is, I really wanted success and I was willing to do anything I had to in order to get it. But what about you? Are you willing to put in those long nights? Are you willing to learn anything you have to in order to acquire the knowledge that you need to run a successful business? Are you committed enough to tell YOUR friends that you can't come out tonight? Can you tell your family that you're putting in this time for them and get them to understand?

If you can't answer yes to all these questions and a whole lot more, you may not be ready to do what's required to be successful online with your own business.

And that's just the reality of it all.

To Your Success,

Steven Wagenheim

How Badly Do You Want to Succeed?

"Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything." - Napoleon Hill

I was at a conference a few weeks ago and I did what I so often do. I asked the audience - all 60 people - if they wanted success. I said, "If you want success, raise your hand."

Then the attendees did what they so often do. They raised their hands. But their hands were limp and barely above their shoulders.

They had these sheepish looks on their faces as if they were telling me, "Yes, Derek. We want good things to happen - we think. Is it okay for us to want that?"

It should also be noted that when the audience filed into the room more than half of them immediately sat in the back half of the space.

The age range for the audience was between 18 and 35. But, there was one girl, a 12 year-old named Kaitlin, whose hand excitedly shot up in the air. She was also sitting in the front row.
She was brave enough to let the whole world know that she wants to be great. And she wasn't afraid to tell me why she wanted it, either.

I just have a couple of questions. What happens to us between 12 and 35 that makes us so uncertain about our potential for greatness? Why are we so passive about what we say we want? How can we ever achieve anything when our pursuit is so half-hearted?

Please email your answers to me! I welcome any answers you have to these questions.

From my experience this is not the right attitude for success. **Successful people ACT from a sense of URGENCY. I don't think y'all heard me. So I'll say it again.

**Successful people ACT from a sense of URGENCY.

There's an URGENCY to accomplish tasks. There's an URGENCY to live their dreams. There's an URGENCY to get things done. They're ATTACKING vs. WAITING. Big difference.

I'm just tired of weak answers about why people want certain things. Where's the tenacity of Kaitlin, the 12- year-old?

You need a reason to succeed. You need a living, breathing, vivid purpose!

Success comes to those who will settle for nothing less.

Jason Osborn of findyourgreatness.com says, "Write down your top five reasons why you want to be successful in life. Keep these in a place that you have to constantly look at them. Make these reasons be so ingrained in your heart and mind that when difficult times come you won't even consider it an option to quit."

You Want A Great Body - But How Bad Do You Want It?

There are people who suggest that "desire" is evil and that desire is responsible for all our troubles, strife and unhappiness in life. That is mistaken. That would be confusing desire with greed and excess. The truth is, nothing would ever happen if it weren't for desire. Without desire, you would never get the car you want, you would never get the home you want, you would never get the companionship you want and you would never get the body you want.

Desire is unexpressed talent, unfulfilled potential or an underperformed function calling out, and seeking expression or improvement. It's that higher voice within you saying, "Hey, you're more than this, you're better than this, and you deserve it, so get moving, and go get it!"

Desire is a positive and powerful force for change and as Napoleon Hill said, "Desire is the starting point of all achievement."

I would add to Napoleon Hill's sentiment by saying that desire is also the finishing point of all achievement.

Some people talk about the body they would like to have, but it's only a wishy washy desire with no OOMPF behind it. If your desire is not strong enough - if it is not a burning desire - you'll never finish - you'll quit at the first obstacle or difficulty.

People with a burning desire do not quit. They are unstoppable.

Just look at New Year's resolutions. Three months into the new year, how's your new year's resolution coming along?

In January, if you set a real fitness transformation goal, in writing, backed with burning desire and strong emotional reasons why you wanted that goal, then I know that your body has completely transformed in the past three months.

If you didn't set goals at all, if you set a wimpy "resolution," if you didn't come up with any good reasons why you must change, or if you lacked desire, then I know that your body looks more or less the same as it did three months ago.

What does the rest of this year have in store for you? I can tell you without hesitation that your future success will come in direct proportion to your level of desire and I've seen the proof time after time.

Recently, I received an email from Mike Ogorek, who posted his astonishing before and after fat loss success story on his web page (the link is below)

On his page, which describes and photographically illustrates his incredibly inspirational weight loss of 137 pounds, Mike wrote a lot of things which show just how intelligent he is with his approach to fat loss and staying motivated.

One thing, however, jumped right off the page when I read it. Mike wrote,

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is what it all boils down to: How bad do you want it?"

Mike had a burning desire - and he burned off 137 pounds of fat!

You can burn the fat too, but you gotta want it...

You gotta decide what you want, then stand up and shout, "THIS IS WHAT I WANT and I AM GOING TO GET IT!

A better body does not come in a pill or a bottle. Fat loss success does not even depend solely on the particular training program you are using. There are many different approaches to nutrition and exercise that can work, and different things work for different people.

But the one thing that MUST always be there is a goal and the burning desire to achieve it.

When you don't have it, no diet or workout will help. When you do have it, nothing can stop you from getting the body you want

Take a look at Mike Ogorek's transformation story here and see what BURNING DESIRE and an intelligent plan can do for YOU:

How Bad Do You Want Financial Freedom and Success in Your Life?

That is a question that I am sure everybody would answer with "I want it." Well, I am here to tell you financial freedom is achievable. Yes, it sure is but the problem is you have to have the desire to go and get it. Most people fail to achieve there dreams and goals because the DESIRE is not there. To achieve success in anything you want in life takes desire. The desire is what made Michael Jordon, Bill Gates, Bill Walton and even me successful.

Desire is one of the main keys to your success. You and you alone must decide that you have the desire to go on until you get to your goal. Desire is the thing that must people fail at. You need to search into your soul and your heart and make a true commitment that nothing is going to stop you to achieve your goal. I don't know what your dreams and goals are but most people do want financial freedom. Maybe you want to be a pro ball player, a doctor, or a lawyer what ever it might be you need to put it into your heart and just do it.

Believe me I know how hard that is. It was not easy for me but the one thing that I had was the desire to succeed. Success is a learned skill. I remember when I wanted to be a high fashion model. My friends and even my family did not support me. So, I packed up and moved to New York City. The capital of modeling.

I went to every top agency in New York and every one of them tuned me down. They all said go out get there and get some work and when you do come back. I then went to the small agencies and 2 of them took me on. The only problem with small agencies is they don't have the contacts that the big ones have. So, I made my own appointments.

My goal was 25 appointments a week. It took me 11 1/2 months to get my first job. That meant that I receive over 1,000 no's before I got my first YES. The rest is history. I modeled all over the world for 10 years, made a ton of money. After modeling I became a scout for the major agencies in New York, Europe and Japan. Plus I wrote a book on modeling. Just a plan old guy from Cape Cod.

So, What I am telling everyone. If you want something find the desire that is inside of you and don't let anything or anyone stop you. God has given us all gifts and talents. Find that gift that is inside of you and just do it. Stop blaming other people for your failure. Yes, that is just what I said. Being a success coach I hear so much blame put on other people. I don't blame anyone for my failures not matter what. The reason why is because I was the one that made the decision to do what every. No one to blame but ME.

When ever I start coaching people I let them do 98% of the talking. I want to get to know them and build a relationship. What I hear is the blame. I blame my parents, my boss, my wife, my kids, my friends. I am to fat, to skinny, to ugly. People just don't like me. I did not do well in school. My teachers didn't like me, my coach didn't like me and more.

All that is just negative self talk. My advice to all the above is to change. Change the people you are around and change the way you talk to your self. When I decided to become a model I packed up and moved away from all those negative people. I knew what I wanted and deep inside I know that I would get it.

I feel the same way now about my network marketing business. I know that network marketing works and I will not give up. Network marketing is a proven business and it works for millions of people. I have always been positive and when people around me talk negative I just leave and I mean leave. If you hang around 4 negative people you will be the 5th.  If you hang around 4 broke people you will be the 5th.

Don't forget the number one secret to success is desire. Do you have the desire to succeed? That is the only question you need to ask yourself. If so then find the other keys to success. They are all around you.
